Family of Faith: easy as one, two, three
ONE THING THE CHURCH IS NOT
The church is not a building.
The God who made the
world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in
temples built by hands. Acts 17:24, NIV
TWO THINGS THE CHURCH IS
The church is people who believe
We who believe are
carefully joined together with Christ as parts of a beautiful, constantly
growing temple for God. Ephesians 2:21, TLB
The church is a living building
Don’t you realize that
all of you together are the house of God, and that the Spirit of God lives
among you in his house? I Corinthians 3:16, TLB
THREE THINGS THE CHURCH DOES
The church spreads the gospel.
Preach the Word; be
prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great
patience and careful instruction. II Timothy 4:2, NIV
The church fulfills its God-given responsibilities
Why is it that he
gives us these special abilities to do certain things best? It is that God’s
people will be equipped to do better work for him, building up the Church, the
body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity. Ephesians 4:12, TLB
THREE THINGS THE CHURCH DOES
The church provides a place of refuge
How happy are those
who can live in your Temple, singing your praises. Psalm 84:4, TLB
And let us consider
how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up
meeting together…but let us encourage one another. Hebrews 10:24-25, NIV
